The Landesamt für Umwelt, Gesundheit und Verbraucherschutz Brandenburg (Ministry of Environment, Health and Consumer Protection, LUGV), former Landesumweltamt (LUA) Brandenburg is a higher state office which is subordinated of the Ministry of Environment, Health and Consumer Protection of the federal state of Brandenburg. The LUGV is a state office with respect to scientific-technical support and a service office for regional and local authorities, for associations and citizens as well as for investors. The protection of peatlands and the stabilization of water balance in the landscape are some of the priorities of the LUGV. Within the last years, LUGV, and the former Landesanstalt für Großschutzgebiete as a part of the LUA, have been initiated or carried out several LIFE-projects:
Within the framework of the LIFE-project "Schreiadler Schorfheide-Chorin", the LUGV also acts as an approval authority concerning water law, species protection and FFH Directive (Habitat Directive).
